Types of Mangoes in Pakistan: Complete Variety Guide

Pakistan grows dozens of mango varieties, each with its own taste, texture and season, from the giant golden Sindhri that opens the summer to the late, honey-sweet Chaunsa that closes it. This guide walks through the major types of mangoes grown in Pakistan so you know exactly what you are tasting, and when each is at its best.

The most famous Pakistani mangoes

Chaunsa: the late-season king, buttery, fibreless and intensely aromatic, from the Multan region. Comes in Black, White and Mausami types.

Sindhri: large, golden and fibreless with a gentle honeyed sweetness, the variety that opens the season in late May and June.

Anwar Ratol: small, golden and almost candy-sweet with a powerful aroma and the shortest season of all, which is why it sells out first.

Dusehri: juicy, fragrant and nostalgic, the household classic many Pakistanis grew up eating.

Regional and seasonal varieties

Langra: a green-skinned, turpentine-fragrant mango from the Punjab, famous for staying greenish even when ripe and for its distinctive tangy-sweet flavour.

Fajri: a large, late-season mango with a long shape and rich sweetness, popular for its size and value.

Saroli: an early-season variety that helps open the mango calendar, lighter and refreshing.

Malda and various desi (local) mangoes: smaller regional types grown across Punjab and Sindh, often used for pulp, juice and aam panna as much as for eating fresh.

When each variety is in season

The Pakistani mango season runs roughly from late May to September. Sindhri and the early types open it, followed by Dusehri and Langra through June and July, with Anwar Ratol peaking in June.

The Chaunsa family closes the season strongest: Mausami Chaunsa from around 20 June, Black Chaunsa from early July, and White Chaunsa from late July into late August.

Which variety should you buy?

For pure sweetness, choose Anwar Ratol or White Chaunsa. For the best everyday value, Black Chaunsa. For big, juicy slices to feed a crowd, Sindhri. For a familiar, comforting favourite, Dusehri.

Royal Chaunsa specialises in the premium export-grade varieties, Sindhri, Dusehri, Anwar Ratol and the three Chaunsa types, all naturally ripened in our Multan gardens with free delivery across Pakistan. You can compare them in our ranked guide and order any of them online.
